Our Story
Solutions to Help People in Need
Oasis Community Projects traces its origins to the picturesque rural village of Van Wyksdorp nestled in the heart of the Little Karoo accessible via a gravel road and located 45km from Ladismith and 65km from Riversdale.
Founded in 1993 by the visionary Cathy Alchin, the organization embarked on its mission with just three initial projects: a library, needlework group, and a local newspaper. Oasis officially earned its non-profit status on 25 January 1999.
Over the years, Oasis has expanded its reach and impact, extending its projects to communities in Ladismith, Zoar/Amalienstein, Calitzdorp, and Oudtshoorn. By 2018, Oasis had blossomed to encompass a total of nine impactful projects, reflecting its enduring commitment to community upliftment and development.
Our Goal
To empower and uplift the Kannaland community, focusing on women and youth, through education, skills training, job creation, health awareness, and nutrition. We manage a multi-purpose center, offer youth services, support entrepreneurship, and collaborate for a sustainable future.
Our Mission
Continue supporting the community of Van Wyksdorp and the greater Kannaland area in achieving the maximum amount of self-sustainability in food security, employment and self-management of health and wellness.
